An
angle that most of the news media totally blew past is the possibility
that the Gaters were screaming for help. Help, you say? It may not seem
like it, but, buried in the depths of the Heaven's
Gate web site (reading between the
URLs), one gets a sense that there's a suicidal mentality at work. I've
asked myself the question of whether or not I would've recognized what
the Gaters were up to before the incident. I have come to the conclusion
that "yes, I would've". (See their "Our
Positions Against Suicide" page) where
on the surface they make the claim that suicide is their "last resort".
However, just the presence of a "Suicide" page alone is a screaming SOS.
Think in terms of the suicidal individual.
Such a person is likely to leave hidden warning signs all over the place
as to tis
true intent, in secret hopes someone will come along and save tim
from tis actions.
I assert that the Heaven's Gate web site
is such a "warning sign", an indicator, a call for help. Their Suicide
page mentioned above comes closest to making an open statement of their
intentions without openly stating it.
Of course, their web site being only one
in the Babylonian sea of web sites, the chances that someone capable enough
to be able to talk sense to the Gaters taking their site seriously enough
to view even more than one page, is remote at best. It is not surprising
that their cry went unheard and unrecognized.
It is my guess that this lack of response
from the Internet only added to their dismay and reinforced their mental
states to prepare them for committing the actual suicide, must as what
would happen in the mind of a suicidal individual. No one cares. No one
responds (in the right way) to the giving away of personal possessions,
leaving oneself unkempt, etc.
If this is the case, then the tragedy
is only compounded by the fact that no one saw the cry in time.

| Excerpts from "Our Positions Against
Suicide"
...It could happen that before that spacecraft comes, one
or more of us could lose our physical vehicles (bodies) due to "recall,"
accident, or at the hands of some irate individual. We do not anticipate
this, but it is possible. Another possibility is that, because of the position
we take in our information, we could find
so much disfavor with the powers that control this world that there could
be attempts to incarcerate us or to subject us to
some sort of psychological or physical torture (such as occurred at both
Ruby Ridge and Waco).
